Introducing New Support and Therapy Groups for Gay Men

Coming out as a gay man can be a personal challenge; a struggle with a new identity, sometimes dealing with rejection and for those without any support it can also be a lonely journey as well.  Last year, Attitude and the Guardian published articles about depression and suicide rates within the gay community (Evidence shows that gay men are more than twice as likely to attempt suicide), these statistics also suggest lack of community support, family support and understanding and no sense of belonging.

Introducing a series of new therapy groups for gay men who are struggling with coming out and with their sexuality.  I am aiming to offer an environment in which anxiety, depression, and self-destructive behaviour can be explored openly and supportively.

Groups offer powerful ways to break away from isolation and offer a safe environment to work with shame, fear, depression and low self-esteem.  They also act as small communities in which participants feel they belong.

These groups will run in London over ten weeks starting February 2011.
