Black Lesbian UK
BLUK began as an internet group in August 2003. The original and ongoing aims were to create a confidential social and welfare supportive and empowering online space for the Black lesbian community in the UK. The membership has grown to over 330 black lesbians from 16 upwards, and has welcomed black lesbians outside the UK as associate members. BLUK works in alliance with the wider gay and lesbian community to advance equality based on sexual orientation, gender expression and identity, and other concerns including workplace, family, parenting, discrimination and health issues. BLUK is guided by an Executive Management Committee comprised of volunteer members who are committed to the BLUK constitution.
