Overview

Enfield is the most northerly borough in London. It has an estimated LGBT population of 17,256 with 384 same-sex households according to the 2001 census. It is made up on 21 wards; Bowes, Bush Hill Park, Chase, Cockfosters, Edmonton Green, Enfield Highway, Enfield Lock, Grange, Haselbury, Highlands, Jubilee, Lower Edmonton, Palmers Green, Ponders End, Southbury, Southgate, Southgate Green, Town, Turkey Street, Upper Edmonton and Winchmore Hill.

Political make-up

63 councillors represent the people of Enfield. Enfield is a Labour controlled council, with 36 of its councillors elected from the Labour party and 27 from the Conservative party. Doug Taylor is the leader of the council; Chaudhury Anwar MBE is the cabinet member for Community Cohesion and Capacity Building in the third sector.

There are 3 parliamentary constituencies covering the Enfield area. Edmonton Andy Love, Labour, for the Edmonton constituency; Nick de Bois, Conservative, for the Enfield North Constituency; and David Burrowes, Conservative, for the Enfield Southgate constituency.
