Overview
Ealing is a West London borough with an estimated LGBT population of 18,600 people, with 672 same-sex households according to the 2001 census. The borough is made up of 23 wards; Northolt West End, Northolt Mandeville, Greenford Green, North Greenford, Greenford Broadway, Perivale, Lady Margaret, Dormers Wells, Hobbayne, Cleveland, Hanger Hill, Southall Broadway, Southall Green, Norwood Green, Elthorne, Ealing Broadway, Walpole, Northfield, Ealing Common, South Acton, Acton Central, East Acton and Southfield.
Political make-up
There are 69 councillors representing the people of Ealing. Ealing is a Labour-controlled council, with 40 Labour councillors, 24 Conservative and 5 Liberal Democrat. The leader of the council is Julian Bell. Councillor Ranjit Dheer is the cabinet member responsible for Safer Communities, and Equality and Diversity.
There are three members of parliament serving the borough. Angie Bray, Conservative, for the Ealing Central and Acton constituency; Stephen Pound, Labour, for the Ealing North constituency; and Virendra Sharma, Labour, for the Ealing Southall constituency.
