The City of Westminster is at the heart of London and home to Europe largest shopping street, theatres and vibrant Soho. There are an estimated 14,161 LGBT people living within the City of Westminster, with 890 same-sex households according to the 2001 census.

Westminster is made up of 20 wards including Abbey Road, Bayswater Bryanston and Dorset Square, Church Street, Churchill, Harrow Road, Hyde Park, Knightsbridge and Belgravia, Lancaster Gate, Little Venice, Maida Vale, Marylebone, High Street, Queen's Park, Regent's Park, St James's, Tachbrook, Vincent Square, Warwick, West End and Westbourne.

Political make-up

Westminster is a Conservative-controlled council, with 48 of its 60 councillors elected from the Conservative party.

The member of parliament for the area is Mark Field, Conservative, serving the Cities of London and Westminster constituency.
